WHO IS LOLA?
About
Lola Cortez is a composer and lyricist who finds her muse in the marrow of human connection.
She recently graduated from Wesleyan University with High Honors in Music and a minor in Film. Her honors thesis, The Bluebird & The Lynx: A Banana Fish Story, her musical adaptation of Akimi Yoshida’s manga, received the Gwen Livingston Pokora Prize for Composition. Praised for its raw, adventurous score, the production has captivated an international audience online.
As a Mexican-Russian artist, Lola is driven to tell untold and underrepresented stories, believing that the most evocative narratives are often the ones that teach us the most about being human.
When she isn’t composing, she can be found nose-deep in a book, dissecting Ludwig Göransson’s newest masterpiece, or learning her fifth language on Duolingo.
